Job Summary:

The Administrative Assistant provides patient friendly service graciously, efficiently, and confidentially. This role is fluid based upon the need of the practice. Tasks can fluctuate to meet the operational needs of the clinic at any given time.

Primary responsibilities include:

Obtaining insurance authorizations and scheduling for imaging and outgoing referrals to other providers.

Answers the telephone, takes accurate messages, handles certain calls that are appropriately handled by AA. Manages telephone calls professionally, courteously and in a helpful manner.

Greet patients and/or their family members or advocates in a friendly and helpful manner.

Assists with coverage for registering patients for appointments, verify demographic and insurance information are accurate and update.

Assist with chart preparation for the week.

Responsible for making sure that all patient related information has been reviewed with the patient at each appointment. (i.e.: insurance information, address, phone number, emergency contacts, etc.)

Responsible for collecting patient copayments at the time the patient is seen.

Assists with coverage for checking patients out after their appointments, ensuring appropriate follow up visits have been scheduled at the time of discharge.

Participates in scanning of information into the medical records.

Responsible for copying patient insurance cards, prescription drug cards, if checking patients in. Updating the pharmacy department of any new insurances or changes in coverage.

Monitors incoming faxes and distributes appropriately.

Adhere to HIPAA compliance standards.

Performs other duties as requested.

This position is located at the Oswego Hematology Oncology Clinic.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree or pertinent college level courses and two years of administrative/office management experience. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficient use of computer and other office equipment. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within healthcare. Possess excellent communication and multitasking skills, as well as positive interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills.

G3: $18.75 - $28.40
