Position Summary
The Senior Analyst, Finance Governance plays a key role in establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the policies, standards, and controls governing finance master data within SAP S/4HANA. This role partners closely with Finance Governance leadership, FP&A, and finance stakeholders to ensure high-quality, consistent, compliant finance master data while supporting broader finance transformation and enablement initiatives.
This individual contributor role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex, cross-functional challenges and can connect financial data, system design, and business needs. The Senior Analyst will coordinate activities, improve governance processes, and support key governance forums.
In addition to governance and standards stewardship, this role performs controlled, transaction-based system activities necessary to execute approved master data changes, including loading mapping files and creating master data objects within SAP S/4HANA. The position reports to the Manager, Finance Governance, within the Finance organization.
Key Responsibilities
Governance, Controls & Standards
Define, document, and maintain finance master data policies, standards, and conventions within SAP S/4HANA
Support the continuous improvement of the Finance Data Governance framework, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and internal controls
Serve as a subject matter expert on finance master data governance, acting as a trusted advisor to Finance and business partners, focusing on the Health Care Benefits (HCB) and Corporate Segments
Ensure governance standards are embedded into day-to-day operations and transformation initiatives
Master Data Management & Quality
Perform detailed reviews of master data change and enhancement requests to ensure:
Accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policies, standards and conventions
Alignment with internal controls, audit requirements, and segregation-of-duties expectations
Execute approved non-automated master data changes and additions within SAP S/4HANA, including:
Loading and validating mapping files
Creating and maintaining finance master data objects
Performing required system audits, validations and reconciliations
Maintain detailed logs, audit trails, and supporting documentation for all master data transactions
Partner with requestors to resolve data issues, clarify requirements, and drive quality and timeliness
Ensure ongoing alignment between legacy systems and SAP S/4HANA master data during transformation and sustainment phases
Analyze complex master data scenarios where issues span multiple objects, mappings, and dependent processes, requiring root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving
Finance Transformation & Enablement
Support finance transformation initiatives related to SAP S/4HANA, finance data architecture, reporting, and process optimization
Develop and maintain reference materials, job aids, and process documentation to support adoption and consistency
Identify opportunities to improve governance workflows, automate controls, and enhance data quality through system and process enhancements
Maintain the Finance SAP S/4 Governance repository and SharePoint site as a central source of truth
Break down complex, evolving requirements into actionable governance and system solutions during finance transformation initiatives
Assess downstream impacts of design decisions, data changes, and standards on reporting, controls, and operational processes
Stakeholder Partnership & Leadership
Partner closely with Finance Governance leadership to execute governance priorities and roadmap initiatives
Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, IT, and business stakeholders to research, triage, and resolve master data issues
Act as an ambassador for finance governance, reinforcing standards, controls, and best practices
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or Finance Systems support
3+ years of experience working with ERP and financial systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA
Demonstrated experience executing master data maintenance and controlled system transactions
Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Word)
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment
Proficiency in process management using master data governance tools
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or Finance Systems support
5+ years of experience working with ERP and financial systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA
General understanding of Accounting and Financial Planning
Hands-on experience creating and maintaining finance master data objects in SAP S/4HANA
Familiarity with internal controls, audit requirements, and finance governance frameworks
Experience partnering with FP&A and business stakeholders
Experience supporting finance transformation or system modernization initiatives
Prior experience in Healthcare or Health Insurance industry (HCB) a plus
Automation tools experience
Comfortable working through ambiguity and incomplete information to determine sound, well-governed solutions
Able to see both the details and the bigger picture when working with finance data and systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences
Naturally curious and analytical, with a strong interest in solving complex, multi-variable problems
Logical mindset that can recognize patterns, understand how systems interact and can triage issues and investigate solutions
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$46,988.00 - $112,200.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
