THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to Oxford College's Director of Student Success and Support Initiatives, the Assistant Director of Student Success and Support Initiatives supports student well-being and degree completion by overseeing developmental programs, case management, and cross-department collaborations aligned with the College's mission.The role emphasizes equitable access, inclusive practices, and targeted support for students with diverse backgrounds and needs.
Student Programming Leadership & Oversight:
Co-creates, implements, and assesses programs that promote students' academic success and personal development across varied learning and life experiences.
Leads and evaluates orientation and transition programs for students and their families that support adjustment, engagement, and connection to the campus community.
Serves as a liaison for student clubs representing global, cultural, and identity-based communities.
Collaborates with campus and academic partners to design inclusive and developmentally appropriate workshops, events, and leadership opportunities.
Supports co-curricular learning and engagement through the student organization platform and helps train student leaders in its use.
Integrates strategies grounded in universal design to support the inclusion and engagement of neurodivergent learners.
Coordinates or supports late-night and weekend programming to increase social connection and engagement.
Fosters partnerships with vendors, faculty, staff, and external organizations to enhance programming and ensure alignment with institutional priorities.
Case Management and Student Outreach:
Serves as a principal contact for students encountering academic, personal, or social challenges; provides referrals and coordinated support.
Maintains accurate documentation using appropriate student support systems in compliance with institutional and legal standards.
Advances proactive outreach, early-alert systems, and follow-up processes to support student retention and success.
Works closely with student support services, academic units, and external resources to ensure seamless support pathways.
Assessment, Data, and Program Oversight:
Collects and analyzes participation and outcome data to inform program effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Generates reports to support institutional assessment, retention initiatives, and student success strategy.
Uses data to identify trends and needs among student populations and adjusts programs accordingly.
Integrates assessment findings into broader student success and well-being initiatives across the campus.
Institutional Collaboration and Campus Representation:
Participates on institutional committees and cross-divisional initiatives focused on student engagement, transition, and retention.
Works with accessibility services, academic departments, student wellness, and campus life to align student support efforts.
Attends regular department meetings and one-on-one supervision.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field, and two years of professional experience in higher education or student support, with demonstrated involvement in student development or advising, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
The work schedule includes some nights and weekends with an adjusted work schedule, and the candidate must have a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
