The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is offering a unique opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience and valuable skills through the MDOT Transportation Career Pathways Program. (https://www.michigan.gov/mdot/careers/tcpp) Whether you're a recent high school graduate or considering a career change, if you are looking to get into the transportation industry, this program is for you! This exciting program runs from May through September and is limited to 832 hours per appointment.

In the Metro Region we are offering the following tracks:
Transportation Technician (https://www.michigan.gov/mdcs/-/media/Project/Websites/mdcs/JOBSPECS/T/TransportationTechnician.pdf) Track
Dive into practical, hands-on or lab-based work focused on becoming a skilled transportation technician. Gain valuable experience in maintaining and improving transportation systems, contributing to the smooth flow of traffic and overall infrastructure reliability.
Additional Requirements and Information
Program Requirements:
Attach a detailed resume
Pass a pre-employment drug test
Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license by program start date 5/10/2026
40-hour work week availability
Ability to work outside and move up to 45 pounds
Ability to work on roadsides and uneven terrain
Ability to follow and comply with instructions
