Overview Trains and assesses the competency of Certified Home Health Aides (HHAs) and trainees. Develops and delivers training programs/courses to staff focusing on specific clinical areas/member care. What We Provide:Opportunities for professional growth and career advancementInternal mobility, generous tuition reimbursement, CEU credits, and advancement opportunitiesWhat You Will Do:Provides classroom instruction and clinical assessment of students enrolled in the Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations.Supervises and evaluates the skills of trainees and HHAs in a laboratory and/or patient care setting at different locations.Delivers in-service, and specialty classes for paraprofessionals, which includes demonstration of required skills and assures competency in the required skills prior to placement in a patient's home.Identifies learning needs and revises and develops curriculum for course content.Identifies and communicates HHA performance concerns to the appropriate HHA Supervisor or Clinical Manager.Acts as a liaison between the Education Department and Operations staff.Creates a safe and respectful environment for HHAs where everyone feels comfortable, valued and heard.Collaborates in the development of specialty programs.Orients new hires to VNS Health clinical policies, procedures, and performance expectations at the start of employment.Participates in the review, analysis, and appraisal of the effectiveness of the HHA Training Program.Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.3 days per week in Manhattan (5 Penn)Qualifications Licenses and Certifications:License and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State required. Education:Associate's Degree in Nursing required.Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Languages:Bilingual English/Chinese (Mandarin) Work Experience:Minimum of two years of nursing experience, at least one year of which must be in a state recognized home health care agency requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skills requiredStrong facilitation and training skills preferredExperience supervising and assessing performance of HHAs or other paraprofessionals preferred DOH regulations:HOME HEALTH AIDE TRAINING PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Faculty and Credentials. These requirements are derived from federal regulations found at 42 CFR 484.36(a)(2)(ii). Nurse Instructor: The HHATP must be provided by or under the direction of a registered professional nurse who:has two years of nursing experience; and at least one year of which must be in the provision of home health care services in an Article 36 or Article 40 approved agency or its out of state equivalent;cannot be on the Office of Medicaid Inspector General's (OMIG) list of Restricted, Terminated or Excluded Individuals or Entities or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General's list of Excluded Individuals/Entities.Pay Range USD $40.95 - USD $51.19 /Hr.About Us VNS Health is one of the nation's largest nonprofit home and community-based health care organizations.
