BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Stacks packed boxes of product onto line and/or pallets for shipping. Racks unpainted shelving; unracks and packs painted shelving. Paper lamination of full raw sheets of particle board. Pre-laminated boards are cut to size, finished, packaged, stacked, staged, and re-cut to remove defects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Duties may include any or all of the following:
Bands boxes using strapper machine; Cuts boards for pallets to place product onto during packing; Guides boards onto stack; Maintains a clean work area; Monitors board quality and laminating machine operator; Operates crane to change roll for R-pack machine; Operates glue gun; Packs hardware into boxes during down-time on line; Packs bundles of shelving units for shipping; Places shelving pieces onto racks; Provides assistance within 3 areas of line as needed; Pushes wood bundle onto rollers; Pushes finished bundle for transportation to staging area; Re-glues boxes if needed; Removes painted shelving pieces from racks onto pallets; Rotates hourly/daily and/or weekly; Rotates to other areas of line if needed; Stacks off banded boxes onto pallets; Stacks boxes onto pallet from conveyer; Safely operates forklift if needed; Stacks off off-loads packaged boards to pallet; Frees jams as needed; Manually stack offs to cart at least 1x/week; Wood re-claim involves cutting defects from boards stacking and re-using product.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school education/G.E.D. The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to verify quantities for production.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one setting to members of management and fellow employees.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Cutting Boards - task performed by one worker
Lift 2 boards (16#) from 9" to 36" saw table 400x/shift
Lift 10-20# stack of cut boards from 36" saw table to as low as 4" pallet 200x/shift.
Push pallet jack requiring 30 lbs push/pull force.
Requires frequent reaching 4" to 36", frequent bending/squatting to as low as 4".
Handles wire shelving up to 18#, boxes of tacos at 42-48#, hutch sides 27-32#, Table tops 33#, bulk pack 36#, boxes of molding or base 30-35#, and others. Maximum load handled is 50# with assist or average in the 20-25# range occasionally.
Lift boxes from 31" conveyor to 35" high banding table (largest box weighing 57 lbs)
Lift boxes from 35" banding table to pallet at height of 23" from floor (largest box 57 lbs).
Task performed up to 180 times per shift (36 boxes per pallet for up to 5 pallets).
Lift boxes ranging from 25# to 60# removed from conveyor at 29", pivot and stack from 4" to as high as 40" at a rate of 3000/shift (5-10/minute).
Lift pallets weighing 40# handled from floor to knuckle from 10-20/shift.

Lift stacks of 6 shelving pieces - maximum weight 120 lbs for 6 pieces of 12' x 20" tight mesh (60 lbs for each worker) - from pallet (heights ranging from 18" to 44" above ground) and place onto rollers (36" height).
Requires carrying stack of shelves from 2 ft to 8 ft using a sidestepping movement.
Place cardboard end caps on each end of stack which are then sent through machine and wrapped with plastic.
Remove plastic wrapped stacks of 6 shelves from rollers (40" height to clear stopper) and place onto packing rack (heights range from 21" to 38"). Compile 8 bundles of 6 shelving units for shipping.
Requires carrying stack of shelves 5ft to 8ft using sidestepping movement.
Band bundles of shelving units.
Maximum production time 23 bundles per hour.
Requires frequent bending and squatting; constant forward reaching and grasping.
Packing (Clear Bundle) - task performed by 2 workers
Place boards and plastic onto packing rack.
Lift stacks of 6 shelving pieces - maximum weight same as for "Packing (Wrapper)" - from 12" to 44" above floor to clear poles on shelving racks and place onto packing rack (heights ranging from 21" to 38"). Compile 8 bundles of 6 shelving units for shipping.
Requires carrying stack of shelves 5ft to 8ft using sidestepping movement.
Band bundles of shelving units.
Maximum production is 17 bundles per hour (1 bundle every 3.5 minutes).
Requires frequent bending and squatting; constant forward reaching and grasping.

Racking - task performed by 2 workers
Grasp one end of individual shelving unit - largest being 12'x 20" tight mesh weighing 20 lbs (10 lbs handled by each worker) - from pallet (heights ranging from 19" to 44" above floor) and place onto hooks (heights ranging from 48" to 60" above floor). Distance handled from pallet to rack 3 ft.
Push/pull pallet of shelving units, which is on wheels, to position for racking operation up to 15 ft. Heaviest pallet requires 97 lbs of push and pull force.
Racking requires constant UE forward and lateral reaching and grasping of both hands.
Maximum production time is 28 shelving pieces per minute.
Stacks off by guiding boards off rollers onto stack; push finished stack onto rollers; replace 3 blocks and bottom board for next stack (5/hour).
