Lilly is currently constructing a cutting-edge facility for the manufacture of new modalities including Gene Therapy. At Lebanon, Indiana, this facility will be Lilly's most technically advanced manufacturing site focused on the delivery of the next wave of innovative products at Lilly. It will include next-generation manufacturing technologies and advanced data collection and analysis platforms that will deliver improvements in safety and quality, and process performance. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the leadership team for the startup of a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the organization, the facility and the culture to enable a successful startup GMP manufacturing operations for both clinical and commercial supply. ?
Main Purpose and Objectives of Position:
The Associate Director Materials and Supply chain management provides leadership and oversight of the materials and product supply chain planning and execution at the LP2 facility. They provide daily oversight of the teams responsible for management of the planning, buying, receipt and delivery of the materials required for manufacturing in addition to the customer demand planning and shipping/distribution activities. The leader also ensures that the team's activities are appropriately resourced and integrated with the site's longer term objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations/Business Management:
Promotion of a strong Safety and Quality culture.
Establish the overall supply chain strategy for LP2 as well as the goals and objectives for the cross-functional materials planning team.
Own and review the team's scorecard with management.
Design, Build and maintain the appropriate business processes for materials demand planning, internal material handling and logistics, and distribution support of the final product.
Establish the LP2 Supply Risk Mitigation Plan.
Ensure all necessary systems, procedures, equipment and facilities are installed, qualified, validated, maintained to appropriate standards.
Support New Product Introductions to the site as required.
Ensure consistency of operations through active engagement in the materials receiving and storage areas.
Lead the team in the creation, approval and execution of the production plan and required materials planning for the site.
Maintain a safe working environment and conduct production activities.
Support and provide leadership to the area through site inspections.
Own the implementation of the change and improvement agenda for the assigned area.
Manage events as required, ensuring appropriate communication within the team and with external teams. Provide input and approve investigations.
People Management:
Oversight and management of both supply chain and warehouse operations personnel
Build a team, creating clear common purpose and promoting good team spirit.
Ensure that team members are appropriately trained, and that operating procedures and training material are available and current.
Manage people training, qualification and performance. Set job expectations and goals for individuals linked to team/site goals. Develop people.
Communicate appropriately with team members regarding site objectives and team performance.
Ensure the team is adequately resourced to meet the business objectives.
Site Management Role:
Manage collaborations, both formal and informal, between the team and functional support groups such as maintenance, engineering, analytical, financial, purchasing and technical support.
Be an engaged member of the cross functional management team (Flow team) and be an active member of Site Management
Specifically, during the construction and startup phase of the LP2 site leadership will be expected to be a collaborative, inclusive, energetic leader and support the broader LP2 team to:
Build the organization with the necessary capability, capacity and culture to operate this facility to the highest standards of excellence.
Develop and implement the systems and processes needed to run the site, leveraging existing Lilly knowledge and practices where necessary, but also incorporating external experiences and learning.
Ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence by supporting lean principles and a Digitally Native approach.
Support the project team as they deliver the facility to the site team, by providing feedback and support on decisions & strategies etc. Collaborate with them to ensure the right decisions are made to meet project deliverables and longer-term strategic goals for the site.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field
5+ years supply chain experience in a cGMP environment.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Prior experience in supply chain management advantageous
Ability to work independently, self-sufficiently and pro-actively in the performance of work duties.
Ability to resolve conflict and promote good decision making among team members.
Solid understanding of the importance of and basic requirements of Regulatory agencies such as the FDA, OSHA and EPA.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$127,500 - $204,600
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
