Job Description
The Iowa Department of Revenue's Financial Services Division is seeking anAccounting - Internal Auditorto join their team at our Clive office. The Financial Services Division ensures the accurate accounting of state revenue collection and departmental expenses, while collaborating with leadership to manage the Department's budget effectively.
In this position you will be responsible for:
Review of policies, internal controls, lottery draws, and IT Systems
Examines agency financial records/related documents
State of Iowa - Iowa Advantage (I/3) Pre-Audit work
Performs a financial review of the Lottery games, draft artwork, prize structure, and working papers.
Participate in the midday and evening draw rotation. Covers on-call for the evening draw one weekend of the month.
Develop promotional prize procedures
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:
Experience in Systems & Process Review
Communication Skills
Education in Audit, Accounting, or Finance

Applicants must live within the State of Iowa to qualify for this position.
This position will require travel between our Des Moines metro locations and may require occasional out of state travel for training.
A background check, including a criminal history check, fingerprint and Iowa tax filing check, will be conducted on the final candidate.
Effective July 1st, 2025, all Department of Revenue staff and their household will not be able to play any Iowa Lottery games.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Five and one-half years of full-time work experience in accounting, auditing, or finance.
2) All of the following (a and b):
a. Eighteen months of full-time work experience in accounting, auditing, or finance; and
b A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in accounting or finance equals one year of full-time experience;
3) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting or finance, and experience equal to eighteen months of full-time work in accounting, auditing, or finance.
