Job Description

The Director of Production Operations plays a critical role in overseeing the Production Department. This position is responsible for developing and executing both short- and long-term production strategies, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising quality. The Director will manage the staff and systems, oversee information and cost management, and establish processes and policies that align with the company's goals.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Data Programmer to ensure quality and process during sign-off and set-up stages of print production.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize production workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.

Oversee daily production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products and meet customer expectations.

Monitor production metrics, analyze performance data, and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborate with design, procurement, and sales teams to align production capabilities with business objectives.

Provide strong leadership to production managers, supervisors, and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Communicate clear goals and expectations to the team, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.

Ensure all products meet or exceed quality standards, implementing quality control processes at every stage of production.

Address production challenges or defects promptly to minimize disruptions.

Promote a safe working environment by enforcing compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.

Develop and manage the production operations budget, identifying opportunities to reduce expenses and improve profitability.

Approve purchases of equipment, materials, and supplies needed for production.

Oversee maintenance and upgrades of machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.

Oversee the production activities of the agency's clients, primarily direct mail, including estimating, scheduling, project management, vendor management, pre-press, printing/personalization, and letter shop services.

Collaborate with agency leadership to recommend best production solutions, prepare schedules, estimates, and production workflow.

Monitor, assess, and report production issues/challenges to the supervisor.

Manage the process for all outsourced production jobs.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; an MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.

10+ years of experience in production management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the print manufacturing industry preferred.

Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiency.

Strong knowledge of print manufacturing processes, equipment, and technology.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in production planning software and data analysis tools.

Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and safety regulations.

Work Environment

This position requires 100% onsite presence in Bloomsburg, PA. The standard work shift is 8am-5pm, with additional hours as needed. The role demands a hands-on approach within the print manufacturing or related industry environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Freedom, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
