The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Collections is seeking anAdministrative Support Assistant 3to join our team!
Join our dynamic team at the Central Regional Child Support Program in Marshalltown, Iowa, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of families. We're seeking an exceptional individual who is respectful, positive, and passionate about supporting families throughout their child support journey. As a valuable member of our office team, you'll handle administrative duties and casework, including paternity establishment, support modification, enforcement, and monitoring.
In this role, you'll engage with customers who may have reservations about their child support obligations. Strong customer service skills and effective communication with diverse community partners are vital to achieving the program's goals. You'll provide information, answer questions, and collaborate with human service agencies, attorneys, court clerks, sheriffs, employers, and other stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will involve specialized technical and clerical work, supporting local program objectives to ensure statewide success. Using internet resources, databases, and automated systems, you'll assist with tasks related to establishment, enforcement, and location activities.
To thrive in this position, you must possess the ability to comprehend and apply complex instructions, including federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures specific to child support. We're looking for a highly motivated and organized individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hours, Work Location and Requirements:
This is a full-time opportunity, Monday - Friday with typical hours being from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Upon successful completion of the training period and with management approval, this position offers a hybrid work opportunity, working from the office as scheduled, and from home.
Job Duties:
Performs administrative office duties and casework activities as a member of an office team for parents in need of paternity, medical and support establishment, modification of existing order, enforcement, and monitoring of support orders.
Communicates with a variety of community partners including human service agencies, employers, clerks of court, county sheriff, attorneys, and other entities to achieve the goals of the Child Support Program through phone calls, emails, and other written correspondence.
Independently analyzes a variety of complex case situations and legal scenarios to determine the appropriate action including technical, clerical, and support work to assist in the implementation of local program goals and objectives for achieving statewide success for the Child Support Program.
Assist with establishment and specialized enforcement tasks as well as location activities utilizing the internet, databases, and various automated systems.
Uses Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) proficiently and has the aptitude to learn other computerized systems, including ICAR, which is critically important for success in this position.
Comprehend and adhere to confidentiality provisions in the Code of Iowa.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with:

Customer service, including de-escalation of conflictual or adversarial situations.
Excellent oral and written communication and report composition.
Teamwork, collaboration, and consultation.
Managing multiple deadlines.
Extreme accuracy in mathematical calculations and timelines.
Additional Requirements
This position requires the completion and successful passing of a level 5 criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
This position requires occasional travel. A valid driver's license is required to utilize our state vehicles that may be used for travel outside of the office as needed.
This position is located in Marshalltown, IA. As part of our hybrid work environment, are you willing and able to work in an office 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, as scheduled?

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
