Qualifications: Minimum QualificationsEducation:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree.Experience:Accountant IV:and#8226; Three years of experience performing general financial and/or accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, or financial statement audit duties.and#8226; Experience working with accounts, reconciliations, and revenues.Accountant V:Experience:and#8226; Five years of experience performing general financial and/or accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, or financial statement audit duties.and#8226; Experience working with accounts, reconciliations, and revenues.Accountant VI:Experience:and#8226; Six years of experience performing general financial and/or accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, or financial statement audit duties.and#8226; Experience working with accounts, reconciliations, and revenues.Preferred QualificationsPreferred Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Accounting or a Business related degree.Preferred Experience:and#8226; Experience with Texas governmental agency(s).and#8226; Experience with the Texas legislative process.and#8226; Experience and knowledge of USAS.and#8226; Experience preparing fiscal notes and analyzing legislation.and#8226; Experience researching and analyzing state statutes and/or the GAA.and#8226; Experience with Comptroller Fiscal policies and procedures.and#8226; SQL (Structure Query Language) or database experience.SubstitutionsOne additional year of experience performing general financial and/or accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, or financial statement audit duties may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).Licenses and CertificationsN/AIn this role you will:Accountant IV:and#8226; Monitors and reconciles 902 and#8211; Comptroller Fiscal (902) accounts across various systems for revenue collected by 902. Monitors fund cash accounts for compliance with legislative requirements.and#8226; Monitors and maintains 902 profiles in Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) and other Comptroller financial systems. Prepares budgetary entries and other duties associated with 902. Assists other Comptroller divisions with processing of accounting transactions in USAS as they relate to the section.and#8226; Responsible for maintaining and establishing procedures for tasks related to the Statewide Fiscal Programs section and Agency 902.and#8226; Responsible for technical appropriation assistance, accounting research for items processed through 902. Provides detailed guidance on Comptroller policies and procedures.and#8226; Other duties assigned.Accountant V:and#8226; Responsibilities of an Accountant IV.and#8226; Prepares, reviews and processes revenue allocations and revenue sweeps for 902.and#8226; Assists in the interpretation of legislative provisions as they relate to 902, the General Appropriations Act (GAA) and new revenue. Responsible for technical appropriation assistance, accounting research for items processed through 902.
