Overview
This position is responsible for portions of the implementation of the Company's Transmission Integrity Management Program. This program, required by federal regulations, is designed to ensure the safe operation of natural gas transmission system.
Position will be filled at Engineer I, II, III level subject to the education and experience of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities
Perform data analysis, project planning and project execution for initiatives associated with the Company's natural gas transmission integrity program.
Maintain and update the Company's policies and standards related to transmission integrity management.
Interpret and apply federal and state regulations and industry standards related to gas pipeline safety.
Evaluate emerging technologies in the field of pipeline inspection.
Monitors, verifies, and analyzes all pipeline data in various formats (i.e. GIS, spreadsheets, integrity management software, paper records, etc.) to assure data accuracy and system synchronization.
Queries data for anomalies and supports required calculations using field assessment data.
Integrates many different data sets into the risk assessment model to rank the risks associated with the pipeline system.
Manages the electronic versions of the data, assures accurate data integration, and performs data mining operations to support the integrity management program.
Leads data preparation for pipeline repair projects, system enhancements, and maintenance activities.
Analyzes data collected in the field with respect to pipeline direct examinations, and reports results of field assessments to required parties in support of the integrity management efforts.
Prepares and presents reports giving conclusions of job related engineering activities.
Assists other department engineers with large and/or complex projects, as needed or directed.
Assists with the development of goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free work place.
Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Occasionally directs the activities of coops, supervisors, and others as they perform various activities.
Responsible for the coordination of activities of junior engineer(s), technicians, or others as assigned.
Performs other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications
Required Education
ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of computer operation.
Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
Experience in natural gas transmission/distribution processes, field surveys and geographic information systems and/or pipeline regulatory compliance requirements preferred.
Knowledge of ESRI and Pipeline Toolbox a plus.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses and experience in recommendations to improve processes is highly desired.
