Job Summary

Automotive Sales Manager is responsible for profitability in both the new and used vehicle departments and for customer retention. The Automotive Sales Manager must effectively manage sales & support personnel, have a strong knowledge of the market, and an in-depth understanding of all sales departments' financial data as well as strong customer relations skills.

The Automotive Sales Manager is expected to uphold the highest ethical standards in every aspect of the job.

Responsibilities

Planning, motivating and coordinating the dealership's personnel through leadership and solid business practices.

Accountable for complete dealership operation.

Responsible for displaying and merchandising vehicles as well as reviewing promotions prior to being finalized.

Forecasting dealership sales and coordinating the appropriate supply of used vehicles.

Purchasing and acquiring vehicle inventory accordingly to meet sales forecast.

Determines pricing and ensures vehicle's appearance both visually and mechanically reflects company's high-quality standards.

All vehicles purchased for dealership will go through a detailed inspection. Vehicle repair plan and process will be at Sales Managers discretion.

Audits all appraisals of trade-in vehicles.

Create cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership.

Focus on any customer complaints that Sales Representative or Sales Associate are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.

Maintains a good working relationship with lending institutions, warranty personnel and all other partners.

Communicate objectives, reviews, analyses and planned activities with employees and Corporate Management.

Proactively communicates daily with Internal Departments such as Service and Body Shop to ensure timely handling of sales vehicles is met.

Maintains records of possible prospects for customers shopping for specified vehicles.

Ensures all inventory listed on approved websites are accurately captured. Noting all errors and/or corrections needed to the attention of the Sales Associate.

Explains the policies and procedures of the dealership to all employees and follows up with employees to ensure that these issues are clearly understood and followed.

Effectively communicates with controller to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections.

Monitors daily operations, recommends and creates improved courses of action when necessary, during daily meetings with employees.

Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually and submitting time projections to Corporate Management for approval.

Coordinate regular meetings with employees and management of each department to ensure profitability and efficiency.

Maintains an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.

Responsible for hiring and training all Sales employees.

Completes employee performance evaluations and develops short- and long-term goals for employees.

Overseeing and maintaining compensation plans for all employees.

Keeps Corporate Management and Controller informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management and profitability.

Conduct all communication, whether written or verbal to internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner.

Ensures all sales activity by Sales Representatives is tracked through Company approved program.

Ensure employees maintain accurate records and receipts for all vehicles.

Remains informed about all inventories.

Ensure proactive follow-up on all leads by Sales Representatives and maintains records for future follow-up.

Coordinate with Lot Technicians and Detailers on a daily basis as to needs of the dealership.

Ensures realigning of lot is completed regarding proper alignment of vehicles, legible window stickers and decals present on all vehicles, ensures proper tire pressure on vehicles, etc.

Adheres to all Company's procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Supports Sales Department during core business hours and any other hours deemed necessary.

Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to Company Uniform Policy.

All other duties as assigned by President.

Qualifications

High school diploma, college degree preferred.

Previous sales & management related experience.

Strong negotiation skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to multi-task with accuracy and promptness.

Understanding basic accounting procedures and working knowledge of PC.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, both internal and external.
