Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Performs various duties to assess work practices and environmental conditions for hazards to the health and safety of workers. FT. GEORGE G. MEADE, MD Responsibilities Conduct work site surveys to identify and evaluate environmental hazards and potential health hazards. Determine compliance with established threshold limit values (TLV), evaluating exposures, and advising on control measures and changes in work procedures or schedules to comply with established environmental and health requirements. Perform analysis using standard methods to determine nature and degree of toxic material present in a variety of materials such as environmental samples and industrial products Determine measurements to be made and methods to be used, calibrate and adapt various kinds of equipment, such as standard spectrophotometers, air sampling trains, and gas chromatographic apparatus. Instruct employees on proper selection, usage, and care of respirators in accordance with all applicable regulations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience: 1) conducting work site surveys to identify and evaluate environmental hazards and potential health hazards; 2) performing analysis using standard methods to determine nature and degree of toxic material present in a variety of materials such as environmental samples and industrial products; 3) conducting surveys to evaluate existing potential health hazards and recommending solutions to problems. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a CP-53 Medical Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Superior qualifications and special needs pay setting may be authorized at managements discretion for eligible candidates.
