Job Description:
Polaris Alpha® Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is seeking an amazingly talented Software Developer/Engineer whose role will be essential to the design, implementation, and delivery of high performance, secure, mission critical solutions. We seek engineers that are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic to tackle new challenges as we continue to provide the military with cutting edge tools. For this position, the Software Engineer will analyze, design, and implement advanced capabilities for armament systems at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. The role includes design and implementation of software modules for new tactical fire control systems based on established requirements, with strong consideration for interoperability and software architecture openness.
What You'll Be Doing:
Design and development of software modules for U.S. Army tactical fire control systems in an Agile development environment
Designing and developing microservice and web-based software applications
Designing and developing core infrastructure services and applications to be leveraged by other developers to build user-facing capabilities
Requirements analysis and traceability
Authoring design, interface, and user documentation
Assisting with the testing and integration of applications and systems prior to delivery to users
Support periodic design reviews
Serve as an integral member of the development team to create practical solutions in Agile/DevOps environment.
Follow Agile and Scrum best practices, support Agile sprint planning activities, maintain JIRA task log, use a suite of DevSecOps tools including JIRA, Confluence, GitLab. Maintain strong configuration management for newly developed software features
Assisting with cyber "hardening" of software to ensure the delivered software is secure and meets required cyber security standards
Designing, developing, and maintaining internal tooling used in the creation of various software products
Working closely with your teammates to solve problems and produce high-quality software
Participate in Soldier Touchpoints and evaluate feedback on the system
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
3+ years of experience in software engineering
Experience developing in multiple of the following:
Gradle
Java 17
Spring Boot
RabbitMQ
RESTful APIs
OpenAPI
JNI
JUnit / Mockito
Microservices (Kubernetes, Docker, containerization)
Experience with Development, Build and Configuration tools for example the Atlassian toolset (e.g., Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Confluence, Gradle, Maven)
Excellent organizational, communications, problem-solving and people skills, be a self-starter, and enjoy being part of and contributing to a hard-working team.
Must have the ability to quickly learn and creatively leverage new technologies.
Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. While a security clearance is not immediately required, it may be in the future so candidates should have or have held a clearance or be clearable
Must be able to travel. Anticipated travel level 5%.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Software development lifecycle experience (SDLC), especially within the DoD
Experience developing in and deploying to Windows and Linux environments
Experience with Government standards and procedures.
Understanding of, and experience working within, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)?
Experience with or knowledge of U.S. Army tactical fire control systems

Salary Range: $72,900.00 - $127,600.00
