Job Description Summary:

Draper's machine shop specializes in high mix low volume work in areas such as Defense, Space, Microelectronics, and Biomedical. A Machinist-B is a machinist who demonstrates a high level of workmanship and is familiar with working in a machine shop environment. A Machinist-B has basic skills in CAD/CAM programming, fixturing, and operating commonly used manual and CNC machine tools to fabricate hardware to tolerances of +/- .005 or better when required. A Machinist-B works well with experienced machinists and can take direction from team members when needed. A Machinist-B executes with a solid understanding of quality and workmanship and can identify manufacturing issues before they are delivered to customers.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

Program, setup, and operate manual and CNC machines to fabricate quality hardware.

Maintain tolerances of +/- .005 or better when required.

Execute work based on instructions provided in the form of drawings, solid models, sketches and verbal instructions.

Work with other machinists to develop new skills and abilities.

Work with other machinists to solve manufacturing issues prior to hardware delivery.

Adhere to all shop safety rules.

Maintain a clean and professional work space.

Skills/Abilities

Understanding of CAD/CAM programming, familiarity with GibbsCAM, PowerMill or ESPRIT (EDM) is a plus.

Ability to produce quality parts from raw materials start to finish.

Familiarity with GD&T.

Familiarity with 3 axis CNC milling, wire and sinker EDM, CNC lathe, and surface grinding is a plus.

Experience with materials including aluminums, stainless steels, machinable ceramics, titanium, plastics, and other ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.

Ability to adapt and adjust to rapidly changing priorities, tight deadlines, and unique program requirements.

Motivation to grow and develop new machining skills and abilities.

Education

Graduation from a two year day technical machinist course or four year vocational technical high school.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience manufacturing quality hardware in a machine shop environment.

Additional Job Description:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is

$43.60 - $43.60
