Design and review object models and schemas for DynamoDB, DocumentDB and OpenSearch with attention to scalability, consistency, and cost.
Own service reliability: SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, observability (CloudWatch/OpenSearch), performance profiling, capacity/cost management.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead a cohort of contract engineers: define SOWs, acceptance criteria, and deliverable quality gates; run code reviews and architectural checkpoints; ensure contributions meet internal standards and remain maintainable by FTEs.
Coach, mentor, and develop engineers; cultivate a healthy team culture grounded in inclusion, feedback, and craftsmanship.
Cross Team Solution Design & Architecture

Contribute to reference architectures and ADRs; steward reuse and consistency across squads.
AI/ML Personalization & Data Curation
Partner with Data Science to operationalize models: feature pipelines, online/offline inference, model versioning, A/B testing, guardrails.
Lead data curation for content and recommendation inputs: taxonomy, enrichment, governance, and feedback loops.
Champion responsible AI: bias checks, explainability, and privacy/security controls for guest data.
Standards, Quality & Agile Ways of Working
Define and enforce coding standards (ESLint, Prettier, TypeScript strict mode, secure defaults), testing strategy (unit/integration/e2e, coverage thresholds), and PR/branching conventions.
Establish agile standards for story hygiene, DoR/DoD, estimation, sprint reviews, releases, and DORA metrics; drive continuous improvement via metrics and retros.
Implement CI/CD pipelines with automated build, test, security scans (SAST/DAST/dep checks), and progressive delivery.
Security, Compliance & Business Continuity
Embed security by design (least privilege IAM, KMS, secret management, threat modeling) and ensure compliance with applicable privacy regulations.
Own business continuity: define RTO/RPO, disaster recovery strategies (multi AZ, muli-region, backups, restore playbooks), runbooks, on call rotations, and incident postmortems.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
Partner with Product on roadmaps, scope, and tradeoffs; turn strategic goals into achievable milestones.
Communicate status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to leadership; manage cross team dependencies proactively.
Qualifications:
Experience Required:
8 years in software engineering with 2-4 years in technical leadership/management; demonstrated success leading blended contractor/FTE teams.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and vendor/contractor oversight skills.
Experience Preferred:
Experience in hospitality/e commerce personalization or content recommendation systems.
Knowledge of observability stacks (CloudWatch, DataDog) and cost aware architecture.
AWS certifications (Developer/Architect/DevOps), or equivalent practical expertise.
