Job Summary and Qualifications
HCA Graduate Medical Education (GME) is the largest sponsor of residency and fellowship training programs across the nation. With more than 300 programs across 85 hospitals, we are building a leading network of innovative, patient-centered graduate medical education programs. GME is a relatively new service line within HCA Healthcare. The group is expected to grow substantially over the next several years, so this is an excellent growth opportunity. HCA hospitals currently train more than 5,000 residents and fellows with that number growing to nearly 7,000 by 2030.
The Finance Manager will play an important role on the GME Finance team with responsibility over one of HCA's three groups, which includes multiple hospitals with significant GME activity. The manager will serve as a strategic partner for Hospital CFOs and other senior executives through oversight of performance benchmarking, budgeting and forecasting processes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys solving ambiguous problems, and is excited to implement new processes to shape financial strategy for a dynamic service line.
This role is based in Brentwood, TN; 4 days in office, 1 day work from home.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Supervising GME financial analyst positions, including senior financial analysts and business analysts.
Serving as a trusted financial partner to Hospital CFOs, GME Directors and GME AVPs
Interpreting data concerning financial trends and forecasts.
Preparing monthly analysis and reporting on financial statements, including reviewing reimbursement trends
Utilizing statistical, economic, and financial principles and techniques to prepare reports such as pro formas, projections and other ad hoc requests.
Overseeing the annual projection and budget process for all supported hospitals, including leading each facility's GME budget presentation
Training hospital executives on GME finance dynamics.
Assisting in the development of new processes for proper allocation of costs.
Presenting complex financial insights to hospital CFOs and executive leaders in a clear, compelling way
Managing financial operations for GME Groups generating approximately $500M in revenue
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field is required.
Master's Degree in Accounting is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years in a financial analyst or accounting role, preferably in healthcare
Previous experience in a supervisory role a plus
Project Management experience is strongly preferred
Senior in Big 4 audit environment a plus
3 Ps - Potential, Personality and Past Experience
TECHNOLOGY:
Advanced Excel and database usage/knowledge are required, Hyperion Essbase,
Business Objects, HOST (General Ledger), MicroStrategy, Power BI, and AI desired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems and sub-systems
Knowledge of the financial accounting process
Knowledge of research techniques to analyze and evaluate financial data
Knowledge of accounting information systems
Ability to analyze and interpret large financial datasets
