Responsibilities Serves as a Logistics Management Specialist responsible for research, exploration, analysis, and coordination in order to perform studies, assessments, and evaluations of technologies, and policies relating to logistics. Conducts logistics performance reviews to ensure compliance with regulations, primarily as they relate to the supply and policy compliance domains. Conducts research, performs analysis, and collects data through field visits, written requests, and extraction of information in order to gather processes relating to all aspects of logistics management functions (i.e., supply, accountability etc.). Recommends, updates, and revises logistics regulations and related logistics management policies for leadership. Participates as a member of evaluation teams to determine the status of logistics or readiness systems, to include Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) and associated material fielding processes. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-9) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-9) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience developing and implementing cost effective logistics solutions for management, OR Applying established logistics procedures to support functions such as supply, accountability, and auditability. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS-09 position or higher in the preceding 52 weeks on a permanent competitive appointment may be considered. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Education To qualify with education for the GS-11: I possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.) Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown in the table meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-11. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
