Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to oversee the financial operations and accounting for multiple commercial properties. Reporting to the Controller, the Property Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate property-level records, supporting monthly close processes, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities:

Manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with a focus on accuracy and timeliness (AvidXchange experience preferred).

Perform property-level accounting tasks in Yardi, including general ledger entries, cash management, and AP functions.

Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, allocations, depreciation, and other accounting adjustments.

Maintain tenant ledgers, process billing adjustments, and handle non-standard cash receipts.

Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance with company financial procedures.

Record new property acquisitions and set up appropriate accounting frameworks.

Monitor AR aging, assist with collections, and provide variance analysis.

Collaborate with property management and construction teams to resolve invoice coding and align processes.

Support monthly financial close, respond to audit requests, and generate ad hoc financial reports.

Identify and implement process improvements to optimize the accounting function.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 3 years of property accounting experience in commercial real estate.

Proficiency with Yardi and AvidXchange strongly preferred.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high transaction volumes.

Detail-oriented, with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
