We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Skokie, Illinois - HYBRID Schedule. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to work independently on a range of financial tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance across accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and an analytical mindset to handle high volumes of transactions and reconcile financial data effectively.

Responsibilities:

Process and allocate over 100 payments per month to specific accounts and carriages.

Upload financial data and supporting documents into the designated commission database.

Manipulate and organize Excel spreadsheets with complex datasets, including pivot tables.

Independently assess and execute next steps for non-standard transactions requiring critical thinking.

Reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries to support month-end closing activities.

Manage accounts receivable tasks, including posting transactions and maintaining accurate records.

Utilize QuickBooks to update financial data and ensure proper documentation.

Scan and process physical checks using provided equipment with a focus on precision and efficiency.

Handle large volumes of documents in varying formats, ensuring proper categorization and processing.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.

Requirements - Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role.

Proficiency in financial tasks such as accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger management.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and formula manipulation.

Familiarity with QuickBooks for financial data updates and reconciliations.

Ability to work independently and manage high volumes of transactions with minimal supervision.

Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and external partners.

Capability to analyze and solve problems without relying on templates.

Attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial documentation and processes.
