Description
Global Field Operations is a dynamic team within AWS that manages all cloud infrastructure deployments outside of AWS Data Centers. We are looking for the right individual who will continue the work of building supply chain processes that delight our diverse customer base. In the role, the Supply Chain PM will work with vendors, internal customers and peer teams to identify areas to improve, create high-impact/large-scope plans and drive execution of the plans. The Supply Chain PM has global impact in their work supporting customer deployments in over 60 countries around the world.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion
Key job responsibilities
In this role, the PM will be responsible for the following:
Developing, and implementing, plans to improve the efficiency and scalability of the GFO supply chain
Working with internal and external stakeholders to determine the root cause and resolution of problems, and proactively prevent future issues
Document, and share, best practices for GFO supply chain
Create robust standard work for their role, enabling program growth
A day in the life
A typical day for a GFO Supply Chain PM consists of two parts:
Monitoring relevant metrics for their role to ensure seamless delivery for our customers. Where there are issues, they quickly react to contain and correct issues to prevent recurrence.
Building a roadmap to improve the processes they own to deliver better performance for our customers. This can come in many forms; from small process improvements to full-scale redesigns.
About the team
The Global Field Operations (GFO) Supply Chain team manages all supply chain activities from hardware production through field spares. Within the team are also PMs that manage projects like integrating new programs into GFO, driving improved automation and coordinating with other teams on launching new @types of hardware. Because of the breadth of GFO Supply Chain's responsibilities, our PMs have the opportunity to work on varied projects that challenge them to be creative to optimize processes for our customers.
