Role Purpose

Performs accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Provide accounting support for S&T operating units; including answering policy and accounting practice questions from the entire S&T employee base, transaction enablement & issue resolution

Leads the month end spending review process with S&T capabilities, preparing compliance-mandated materials, performing variance analysis and leading spend review meetings

Supports the month end closing process: journal entries, reporting, account reconciliations and certain SOX tasks

Supports department and expense projects workflows

Supports expense project maintenance

Performs intercompany billings and accruals

Provides backup for S&T capital processes

Projects involved with:

Process improvement projects for team effectiveness & efficiency

Assist with data collection and entry for Budget

Experiences/Education - Required

Education & Experience:

Bachelor Degree and/or relevant experience in Accounting/Finance

Required Skills:

Strong accounting, control, analysis and problem solving skills

Corning Incorporated Accounting Policies and GAAP accounting knowledge

Business Partnership Focus

PeopleSoft

Intermediate Excel skills (v/hlookup, pivot table, IF/AND/OR/SUMIF functions)

Open minded, creative at establishing new processes

Demonstrates ability to serve as a systems resource to answer questions from Finance and non-Finance audiences

Project and process management focus

Effective in cross-functional teamwork, including staff and business on a global basis

Change agent: understands change management processes

Experiences/Education - Desired

Desired Skills:

System familiarity and comfort with new systems / processes (Longview, MSBI, Metrax, eTads/Planview, SAP S4 Hana, MSDW, PowerBI, Blackline)

Soft Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and networks

Customer focus

Comfortable questioning supplied inputs and existing processes

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

The range for this position is $67,342.00 - $92,595.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
