Physician Assistant, Cardiology

We're different than most primary care providers. The Physician Assistant, Specialty is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Cardiologist and/or other physician.
The Physician Assistant, Specialty incumbent must demonstrate the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals. This position may require participation in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings and other meetings.
The Physician Assistant, Specialty incumbent adheres to strict departmental goals/objectives, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care compliance, and policies and procedures. Functions independently as a certified nurse practitioner in collaboration and consultation with a licensed patient care team physician. Practices in accordance with a written or electronic collaborative practice agreement.
Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; implementing physician directives.
Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; discussing family planning; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; establishing personal networks; Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
Cardiology duties include identifying and managing cardiology patients, ordering appropriate cardiology diagnostic tests, and administering cardiology specific therapeutic interventions as needed
Demonstrated record of consistently achieving clinical performance metrics in current role
Must be detail-oriented, and able to pay close attention to patient charts, medications, and follow-up on details of patient care
Basic computer skills and some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, database, and presentation software
Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 75% of the time
Spoken and written fluency in English, bilingual a plus
A minimum of 3 years experience working in Cardiology as a Physician Assistant in an out-patient clinical setting
Successful completion of program recognized by the accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant, appropriate state licensure, and certification
