Primary Purpose
This position is responsible for developing and delivering high quality, student-centered instruction on manufacturing technology topics such as welding, fabrication, and machining. This faculty member engages with industry partners to ensure curriculum alignment with workforce needs, directs hands-on laboratory instruction, evaluates student performance, and provides academic advising. The position, as part of the Manufacturing Program team, contributes to program assessment, continuous improvement initiatives, and the expansion of manufacturing education pathways that respond to the evolving needs of Central Oregon's manufacturing sector.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction and Student Success:
Deliver high-quality instruction in one or more areas of manufacturing including welding, fabrication, CNC machining, and related topics using approved course outcome guides
Teach courses scheduled during day (including early morning), evening, or weekend hours as assigned
Utilize the Learning Management System and Student Accessibility Services software to track attendance, grades, and student progress
Hold a minimum of five office hours per week for student advising, course selection guidance, career planning, and job placement support
Curriculum and Program Development:
Develop and revise curriculum for Workforce Pell-eligible short-term stackable credentials in welding, CNC operation, fabrication, quality assurance, and industrial maintenance
Participate in course assessment, program assessment, and program review processes
Collaborate with faculty team members to ensure curriculum alignment and program coherence
Support program expansion to incorporate emerging trends and technologies in manufacturing
Industry and Community Engagement:
Build and maintain partnerships with local manufacturing employers to align curriculum with workforce needs
Engage in professional development activities to remain current in the field and maintain required credentials or licensures
Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in department meetings, peer teams, and other service activities
Oversee safety protocols and student supervision in all Manufacturing Technology laboratories
Perform additional duties as assigned that support program and college objectives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.
Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and demonstrated ability to instruct in welding, fabrication, CNC machining, manual machining, assembly, tooling, Computer Aided Design ( CAD ), and precision measurement and inspection tools
Ability to develop curriculum and assess student learning using a variety of teaching and assessment techniques, including technology-enhanced instruction
Ability to observe, direct, and oversee students while maintaining safety protocols in classroom and laboratory settings
Ability to support program expansion by incorporating emerging manufacturing trends and responding to the evolving workforce needs of Central Oregon's manufacturing industry
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team-teaching environment and foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems, and other instructional technologies
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse colleagues, staff, students, and community members

Willingness to teach at various hours and locations and travel as required by the position
Ergonomic Requirements
Ability to work in classroom and office environments using computers, white boards, projectors, and other basic office equipment. Ability to operate program equipment including, but not limited to CNC and manual lathes and mills, cutters, forklifts, and other machines. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
An AAS degree or credential in manufacturing or relevant field with a minimum of 24 quarter hours (16 semester hours) of credit in manufacturing.
Experience:
One year of relevant experience working in the field.
Demonstrated successful teaching, or evidence for the potential for excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
Teaching experience in a community college, or other higher education, environment.
Work experience in an industrial setting.
Experience in academic administration or equivalent
