Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated Laser Welder Helper to support our laser welding operations within the sheet metal fabrication department. This entry-level role is perfect for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to build a long-term career in precision metal fabrication. You will work closely with an experienced Laser Welder to ensure smooth production flow and high-quality output.

Responsibilities

Assist the Laser Welder with daily setup, preparation, and operation of laser welding equipment.

Handle, position, and secure sheet metal components for welding.

Perform basic tasks such as part cleaning, deburring, and pre-weld preparation.

Inspect parts for cleanliness, correct orientation, and basic quality requirements before welding.

Support post-weld processes such as cleaning, labeling, and organizing completed components.

Help maintain equipment by performing simple checks, cleaning lenses, and reporting issues.

Read and follow basic instructions, job travelers, and simple technical drawings.

Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with all safety procedures.

Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and quality team members to ensure efficient workflow.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong interest in welding, fabrication, or manufacturing.

Ability to follow instructions and learn new technical skills.

Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

Basic understanding of hand tools and shop safety practices.

Ability to stand, lift, and move materials throughout the shift.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a manufacturing, metalworking, or shop environment.

Exposure to welding processes (laser, TIG, MIG) through school, training, or hobby work.

Familiarity with basic measurement tools such as calipers or tape measures.

Interest in advancing into a full Laser Welder role.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glencoe, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.00/hr.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
