Major duties and responsibilities include: Inventory Management and Control: responsible for the management and control of an assigned class of expendable material; serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment; Returns, Recalls, and Reutilization: implements federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; coordinates disposal of surplus or excess supplies; makes emergent procurement decisions; and participates in root cause analysis process; Performs other related duties as assigned. NOTE: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed above represent the full performance level of GS-9. At the GS-07 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. Work Schedule: 0700 -1530 Telework: Not Available Virtual: Not Available Position Description: Inventory Management Specialist/99823-S Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Involves a mix of working in an office environment to working in a warehouse to assist in processing new equipment receipts and entering into the EIL. A great amount of time walking and climbing stairs is required to conduct on-site inventories of EIL equipment. Lifting of up to 40 pounds is required when receiving new equipment at the facility and preparing for the sale of excess property. Work conditions are often indoors, but could occasionally be dirty, hot, humid or unusually cold when involved in property inventories, disposal of equipment, transferring of equipment between serviced locations and recycling centers. Work is performed generally in an office setting with access to a personal computer and computerized and manual equipment records. Frequent trips to areas throughout the VA HCS and catchment areas, including Veterans' rooms to conduct equipment inventories and assist with problems are required. Work is also routinely performed in warehouse areas where pertinent safety and security procedures must be followed. May be directed to travel to all VA HCS and catchment area locations to perform equipment management duties, transferring of equipment and disposal/recycling of equipment.
