The Information Management team has an exciting opening for an Analytics Engineer. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The Analytics Engineer is responsible for supporting the development of a strong data infrastructure to improve business practices and support University Advancement initiatives through data analytics. This position requires a deep understanding of data storage, cleaning and conforming techniques, including the ability to effectively utilize data analysis processes and toolsets. The Analytics Engineer reports to the Manager for Data Analytics & Business Intelligence.
What You Will Do:
Technical Implementation
Develop a dedicated analytics environment within the wider technical framework.
Work with analysts, report developers and data science team members to identify primary and exhaust data from institutional and third-party systems.
Develop pipelines to make data available to the analytics environment.
In collaboration with analysts, data scientists and business partners, operationalize and deploy the output of analytics efforts for the benefit of the entire University Advancement organization.
Manage and direct technical vendors and data suppliers, as appropriate.
Program Management
Lead specific technical efforts - understand the business problems the efforts are intended to address, develop a framework for addressing the problems, assign work to self and others on the team to implement the solutions, and communicate status and constraints clearly to leadership.
Relationship Management
Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the organization to develop data specifications, articulate complex technical constraints in plain language, and seek to increase the overall level of data literacy.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
What You Bring:
Demonstrated ability to utilize industry-standard tools to design, build and maintain data ETL/ELT pipelines.
Strong skills in SQL for querying, transforming and optimizing data in relational environments.
Experience with distributed data processing tools such as Databricks, PySpark or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms and services (preference for Azure).
Experience ingesting structured, semi-structured and unstructured data into a medallion architecture.
Proven skills in at least two of the following technology sets:
Data Integration & ETL (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS)
Data Analytics Platforms & Pipelines (e.g., Synapse, Databricks, Fabric cloud-native data services)
Data Manipulation & Programming (e.g., SQL, Python)
APIs & Messaging Queues (e.g., REST APIs, Kafka, Azure Service Bus)
Enterprise Data Platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Dataverse)
Experience with enterprise data platforms and business applications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 (including Customer Insights and Customer Journeys) and Dataverse.
Proven expertise in data governance, metadata management and enforcing best practices for data quality and security.

Cubical/Open workspace environment which may result in higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
Hybrid work schedule of at least two days in office.
