Job Title: Medical Office Assistant

Job Description

Responsibilities

Schedule procedure and office visit appointments following established policies and scripting.

Update insurance and demographic information during appointment scheduling.

Obtain cardiac clearance for patients scheduled for procedures when necessary and ensure documentation is provided to the ASC.

Assist with general office functions as requested by supervisors or managers to ensure smooth office operations.

Answer incoming phone lines, take clear and concise messages, and route them to the appropriate provider or employee.

Compose, process, and follow-up on electronic phone messages and alerts.

Maintain familiarity with providers' preferred preparation methods.

Essential Skills

Customer service expertise.

Experience in health care, specifically medical scheduling.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EPIC, and EMR systems.

Ability to verify insurance and schedule appointments efficiently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.

Strong problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 2 years of related experience required.

Experience in a busy outpatient GI medical practice is highly advantageous.

Proficiency in EPIC is required.

Warm and inviting personality with a focus on top-notch patient care.

Ability to function well in high-paced and occasionally stressful environments.

Work Environment

Work in a busy outpatient GI medical practice with flexible scheduling options. This role requires up to 24 hours per week, primarily on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:45 AM to 5 PM. Flexibility to start as late as 9 AM or leave as early as 5 PM is available. Expect to handle upwards of 20 incoming and 20 outgoing calls, and assist with 40 patients alongside a team of two front desk staff members. The environment is collaborative, with a focus on providing compassionate care in a professional setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Trumbull, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
