Job DescriptionnnJob DescriptionnnRequired Certificates and Licenses: Michigan Administrator License and a Special Education Teaching Certification Required.nnResidency Requirements: Must reside in Michigan.nnThe Academic Manager, Special Programs provides focused oversight in assisting school-based personnel in improving the quality of teaching and learning for students in selected services of Special Education, ESL Program and Gifted Program.nnThis position offers a base salary around $65,000 plus the eligibility of a performance bonus.nnK12, a Stride Company, believes in Education for ANY ONE. Student success will be measured by valid and reliable assessment data, parent and student satisfaction, and continued institutional growth within the academic community. Join us!nnThis is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school. nnESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.nn Implements, evaluates, and maintains instructional compliance for Special Education, English Language Learners, and Gifted classroom teachers.nn Conducts evaluations and observations of classroom teachers per state requirements; Provides assurance that teachers working in Special Programs meet all the standards and expectations outlined in the Teacher Excellence Frameworknn Monitors, interprets, and determines instructional efficacy for schoolwide data reportsnn Creates and provides training of "best practices" for Special Programs instructionnnin the virtual school settingnn Coordinates and implements department meetings, coordinates and conductsnnprofessional development activitiesnn Demonstrates skills in data gathering and analysis, project planning and evaluationnn Deep understanding of instruction in reading/literacy, math and behavior interventionsnn Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities; As needed, researches and implements nonK12 curriculum resources that meet state standardsnn Serves as liaison between school and other agencies, including participation in agency meetings, hearings and resolutionsnn Works with Testing Coordinator to facilitate appropriate assessmentsnn Collaborates with grade level principals on daily duties required to keep the department functioning and compliantnn Addresses parent and student concerns and issuesnn Collaborates on and creates projects as directed by the Senior Manager, Special Programsnn Actively participates in all school leadership team meetings assignednn Articulates the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual/remote work environment.nn Ability to travel 20% of the time for meetings, professional development, state testing, etc.nnMANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:nn* Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Special Programs, this position would directly supervise Fulltime Equivalent (FTE), regular employees an
