Sales Estimator - Electrical Power Systems

Cedar City, UT

We've partnered with an established manufacturer of electrical power equipment that is seeking a Sales Estimator to support pricing and proposal development for power distribution and control equipment projects. This role is responsible for evaluating project requirements, developing accurate cost models, and supporting the commercial process from initial inquiry through final pricing submission.

The Sales Estimator works cross-functionally with sales, technical, and operations teams to ensure proposals are technically compliant, commercially competitive, and delivered on schedule.

Primary Responsibilities

Estimating & Proposal Development

Review customer requests, technical documentation, and project specifications related to electrical power equipment.

Develop detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and third-party services.

Configure equipment and system solutions that align with customer requirements and applicable standards.

Prepare complete proposal packages, including pricing, scope descriptions, and technical summaries.

Track bid schedules, revisions, and communications throughout the quotation lifecycle.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with internal technical resources to confirm scope, clarify requirements, and resolve discrepancies.

Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to obtain current and competitive pricing.

Support commercial teams by providing technical and pricing insight during customer discussions as needed.

Maintain organized estimating records, cost libraries, and historical pricing data.

Technical Knowledge & Capabilities

Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and written specifications

Familiarity with power distribution systems, control equipment, and electrical assemblies

Working knowledge of applicable electrical and safety standards

Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate multiple technical and commercial variables

Required Qualifications

Technical background in electrical systems, industrial equipment, or a related discipline, or equivalent estimating experience

Prior experience estimating electrical equipment, power distribution systems, or construction-related projects

Proficiency with estimating tools, ERP systems, and standard office software

High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience estimating engineered or custom-built equipment

Familiarity with vendor pricing tools and supplier negotiation

Exposure to industry standards governing electrical equipment and installations

Ongoing technical training or professional development

Work Environment

Primarily office-based with regular interaction across technical, commercial, and supplier teams

Occasional travel or site visits may be required, depending on project scope
