The pay and benefits you'll get as a Assistant Diesel Mechanic

Starting salary of $34.85 per hour depending on experience

Stable hours for your financial stability

Tool allowance $350 per quarter

Boot allowance $275 per year (after 90-day probationary period)

The hours and location you'll work in as a Assistant Diesel Mechanic with WM:

Monday- Friday

12:00pm- 8:30pm (Occasional Saturday)

Overtime Required When Necessary

The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Peoria IL hauling site.

Each day you'll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a Diesel Mechanic you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. Our mechanics take their careers to the next level by working on equipment that requires a high level of skill - and determination. You'll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

Here's more of what you'll do:

Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Performs minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.

Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.

Washes vehicles and equipment.

Conducts safety checks on vehicles.

Assists senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.

Assists with service calls for breakdowns.

Performs other maintenance related work as required.

Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standard

What do you need to be considered for the role of Assistant Diesel Mechanic?

No prior work experience required.

A valid drivers license, with a clean driving record

Be over 18 years of age.

Legally eligible to work in the United States

Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
