Title: Sr. Project Engineer/Project Engineer

Pay Rate: $70-$85/HR + Full Benefits/PTO
SUMMARY
The Project Engineer will play a key role in providing daily oversight for a significant construction effort at a plant in Port Arthur, TX. This will be a long-term project for the full lifecycle through all phases including design, procurement and construction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Offer both technical and administrative assistance throughout all project stages, including planning, design, procurement, and on-site construction activities
Oversee the management and processing of Requests for Information (RFIs) and change order documentation
Participate in and lead meetings-both internally and externally-during the engineering design period to coordinate project efforts
Examine and resolve design-related feedback in conjunction with external engineering consultants, ensuring drawing compliance with industry regulation
Organize and maintain a centralized document management system for all critical files and drawing revisions
Proactively monitor project progress, keeping schedules on track, coordinating team members, and handling challenges as they arise
Update the project risk register and devise strategies for risk mitigation
Coordinate efforts with architects and construction partners to guarantee project designs adhere to regulatory and legal standards
Administer change management processes, making certain project scope, budgeting, and timelines are accurately defined and controlled
Serve as a point of contact for consistent communication with all stakeholders, modifying project approaches as needed within contract terms
Prepare and deliver status reports by collecting, interpreting, and summarizing relevant data to support sound recommendations
Uphold a safe and organized worksite by adhering to established policies, rules, and safety procedures
Foster a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere throughout the duration of each project
REQUIRED BACKGROUND/EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or related equivalent
10+ years of experience in large-scale capital projects within EPC settings (engineering, procurement, and construction), preferably focused on oil & gas, chemical, or hazardous facilities
Demonstrated success in supporting major project engineering efforts with an emphasis on substantial equipment or system installations
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role is required
A keen eye for detail and robust project engineering expertise
EXPERTISE/ABILITIES
Strong ability to analyze problems and maintain process orientation
Drive and persistence when guiding teams through organizational change and improvement initiatives
In-depth understanding of design methodologies, acquired through a combination of education and field work
Proficiency with AutoCAD, as well as project scheduling applications like Primavera or Microsoft Project
Solid experience with documentation management tools such as Procore or Documentum
Capable of motivating and guiding team members toward achieving results
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication and presentation abilities
Comfort with interpreting technical documentation (such as manuals or schematics)
Skilled at drafting thorough and accessible reports and correspondence
A commitment to regulatory and policy compliance, including business conduct and ethical standards
Familiarity with industrial safety practices and OSHA standards (e.g., hot work, fall protection, trenching, confined space entry, LOTO, JSA, etc.)
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced problem-solving capabilities and adeptness in project management practices
High proficiency in PC applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and project scheduling tools, with a keen ability to use technology to streamline workflows
Understanding and correct use of site-specific PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role encompasses both office-based and construction site/industrial environments
Must be able to stand and move around job sites for extended periods
Willingness and ability to climb ladders, access equipment, and maneuver within elevated or tight spaces (following appropriate training and guidelines)
Ability to undergo annual respirator fit testing and wear respiratory protection as job conditions require
