Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator who is adept at reading blueprints and tape measures. You will be responsible for operating a variety of machinery including band saws, mold press machines, and cranes. Your role will involve setting up machines for high-volume part manufacturing, performing quality inspections, and reporting any defects.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints accurately.

Measure materials to precision using a tape measure up to 1/16th of an inch during the interview and 1/32nd of an inch on the floor.

Operate and manage band saws and mold press machines efficiently.

Conduct quality inspections and report any defective parts to the manager.

Operate an overhead crane to move materials onto the production line.

Perform lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety.

Input information accurately into computer systems.

Support assembly by manufacturing a high volume of parts.

Maintain adherence to safety and quality standards.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in reading blueprints and tape measures.

Experience with machine operation, particularly in heavy industrial settings.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in heavy industrial machine operation.

Experience with brake press or similar machinery.

Ability to perform detailed quality checks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience operating a sit-down forklift is advantageous.

Overhead crane operation skills are beneficial.

Work Environment

This is a newly expanded facility, built in early 2019, that features a climate-controlled, modern, and open space. There are no tight spaces, and the environment is very clean and well-maintained. Employees have access to a new kitchen and market area, as well as vending machines for snacks and lunch items. Locker bays are available for personal storage, ensuring a convenient and organized workspace. Shifts include 1st shift from 5 am to 1:30 pm and 2nd shift from 2 pm to 10:30 pm, with mandatory overtime of one hour after every shift and every other Saturday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hobart, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr.
