Director of Accounting

Description We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to lead corporate accounting operations for a well-established organization in the automotive industry. This long-term contract position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and offers an excellent opportunity to oversee key financial processes, drive operational improvements, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance accounting accuracy, implement scalable workflows, and support financial reporting initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Oversee corporate accounting functions, including long-lived asset accounting and transactional cash/revenue operations.

Lead and develop multi-location accounting teams to achieve operational excellence.

Improve the accuracy and efficiency of journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and reporting processes.

Strengthen internal controls and address any deficiencies to ensure compliance.

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements with precision.

Act as a key stakeholder for internal and external audits, ensuring a smooth audit process.

Collaborate with various departments, such as FP& A, Tax, Treasury, AP/AR, and Financial Reporting, to optimize financial workflows.

Implement scalable processes, policies, and technology-enabled solutions to enhance efficiency.

Support the preparation of financial statements and government reporting requirements.

Execute special projects as assigned to meet organizational goals. Requirements - Extensive knowledge of U.S. accounting standards and regulations.

Proven experience managing multi-location accounting teams and end-to-end financial processes.

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and implementing automation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle accounting platforms, and similar tools.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification required.

Minimum of 12 years of experience, including public company and public accounting exposure.

Familiarity with multi-currency environments, securitized debt, and franchise models preferred.
