Job Title: Lab AnalystJob Description

As a Lab Analyst, you will perform comprehensive sample receiving duties for GMO testing, including unpacking, quality checking, and entering data into LIMS. You will also prepare samples by weighing, grinding, and transferring materials into extraction tubes. Additionally, you will conduct DNA extractions following standard operating procedures and maintain accurate documentation such as batch records and inventory logs. Preparation of reagents, buffers, and standards for testing will also be part of your role.

Responsibilities

Perform full sample receiving duties including unpacking, quality check, and data entry into LIMS for GMO testing.

Prepare samples by weighing, grinding, and transferring materials into extraction tubes.

Conduct DNA extractions in accordance with SOPs and quality protocols.

Maintain accurate documentation, including batch records and inventory logs.

Prepare reagents, buffers, and standards for testing.

Clean and organize workstations, and prepare for next-day sample runs.

Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for lab processes.

Communicate effectively with cross-site teams for collaborative efforts.

Be cross-trained for PCR analysis or sample preparation for mycotoxin testing using LCMS.

Essential Skills

Proficient in DNA extraction and qPCR techniques.

Strong biology background, with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Excellent Excel skills, including data loading, calculations, and basic programming.

Ability to stand for long periods and work in a noisy environment due to grinding equipment.

Experience working in roles with shift expectations, demonstrating time management and prioritization skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

BS Degree in Biology or related field strongly preferred.

0-2 years of exposure to regulated laboratory environments preferred.

Experience with PCR or DNA extraction, and familiarity with lab equipment such as balances, pipettes, and centrifuges.

Good data manipulation skills and knowledge of Excel.

Work Environment

This role is based in a small laboratory within the corporate headquarters. You will interact with other personnel on-site and work closely with a small team of five. The lab environment can be loud due to grinding equipment, though it is permissible to wear AirPods during these times. The facility is pet-friendly, though pets are not allowed in the lab areas. Work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential for occasional overtime during peak periods in the fall. The team culture is collaborative and service-oriented, with a strong emphasis on meeting customer needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Charles, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
