Summary About the Position: This position is located in Falls Church, Virginia. Responsibilities Conduct complex, high priority, and sensitive inquiries and investigations into allegations of Military Whistleblower Reprisal as directed by the Director, DHA, Deputy Director DHA or the DHA Inspector General. Prepare and review written administrative investigation reports and related correspondence. Exercise ingenuity in interpreting and revising existing regulations, policies, statues, and directives relevant to IG mission and functions. Brief leadership on investigative findings and investigative data in support of management decisions. Provide case management of complaints made to the DHA OIG. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Conducting investigations regarding allegations of military Whistleblower Protection Act violations; collecting evidence to determine violation of rule, law or regulation; and developing investigative reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-012). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. You may claim military spouse preference (MSP). Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
