Position: Ag. Equipment Operator

Requirements: Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid Drivers License as driving on public roads may be required. Able to lift up to 100lbs, repetitive movements, and exposure to extreme temperatures.

Job Description:

Will apply specific horticultural techniques as instructed by the employer when carrying out the following responsibilities; prepare fields/plant/spray/weed and irrigate plants/shrubs/trees; sow seed and plant cuttings; recognize disease and/or nutrient/moisture requirements by plant texture/development or soil condition; observe general condition of plants and apply the appropriate care; pull weeds; may mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable); harvest/pack and store crop;

maintain and repair structures/grounds; maintain/repair fencing; repair broken pallets as needed; wash windows of buildings; sweep floors; mow/weed grounds; trim trees/shrubs; paint buildings; sow grass seed and plant plugs of sod and cut/roll/stack/load and unload sod; mow/tend sod; trap/poison pests; prepare crops for shipment; load trucks with sod; operate/maintain sod harvesters/mowing equipment/tractors/forklifts/trucks/trailers and make minor mechanical adjustments/repairs; drive, load/unload farm trucks and Ag exempt, non CDL semi/10-wheel trucks; transport crops from field to storage and/or market; deliver and install sod; workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers. Irrigation duties will include the following: Pivots: check alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution; attach lines to water supply; turn on pump; turn valves to start flow of water; push on switch that activates circle sprinkler system; shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment or cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow; shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channel water.

Other Irrigation Duties: lubricate, adjust, repair and replace parts such as sprinkler heads and drive chains using hand tools; repair/replace tires/gearboxes; observe revolving sprinklers and adjust to ensure proper operation and uniform distribution of water; dig up sprinklers to repair/replace; fill wheel tracks as needed.

Anticipated Hours of Work Per Week: 40

Schedule: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm Friday 6 hrs Saturday 2 hrs.

Anticipated Period of Employment: 3-15-26 to 11-15-26

Pay: 16.28

Effective 1/1/25: Overtime must be paid after 48 hours/week, or 56 hours/week for up to 22 "peak weeks" for highly seasonal employers
