Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the development of containerization across a large Naval Submarine subsystems. This technology integrates various combat subsystems, such as sonar, radar, and weapons control, into a single, cohesive combat system for U.S. Navy submarines. It functions as a 'system of systems' that manages all technical products integrated into submarine combat systems, enabling them to work together and facilitating software updates and life-cycle support.

Responsibilities

Perform software integration and ensure seamless operation of Linux systems with private clouds.

Test and debug code, working with containers and orchestrators.

Design, develop, and deploy containers using Kubernetes in a Linux OS environment, optimizing system performance, security, and scalability.

Develop Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling and implement interprocess communication within containers.

Optimize GPU performance within containers.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in C++ or Java.

3+ years of development, integration, and troubleshooting experience with the Linux/Unix Operating System.

Experience in designing and building containers with Kubernetes for efficient deployment and management.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with GPU optimization within containers.

Proficiency with RKE2 and KubeVIP.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or SVN.

Understanding of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking.

Ability to design containers for high availability.

Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one

Work Environment

The position is based in Manassas, VA. The work schedule is flexible, offering options of 4/10s, 9/80, or a standard 5 days/40-hour week.

This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
