Overview
AV is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Kinetic Interceptors team. The Mechanical Engineering role will work across a broad range of disciplines with an emphasis on product development, analysis and testing. Responsibilities include mechanical design for a variety of different missiles, technology research, interface definition, trade studies including component selection, CAD modeling and documentation.

Join a diverse team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of missile development
Design, test, and/or integration of missile mechanical components, mechanical ground support equipment (EGSE), subsystems, or system-of-systems
Own the CAD representation of the mechanical architecture of the system / subsystem of a complex missile system
Lead/champion design for manufacturing and assembly efforts to ensure a producable / affordable design
Provide mentoring, guidance and direction to junior engineers from conceptual design through release of technical data package
Ensure established configuration management processes are followed
Perform subsystem requirements generation, interface definition, solid modeling and detailed design of components and subsystems
Lead internal design reviews and major customer reviews
Assist with program schedule creation and hardware development planning
Support development engineering labor and material estimates
Support manufacturing engineers in the development of factory layouts, product workflow planning and material handling equipment selection and design
Qualifications:
You must be a US citizen
You must have an active SECRET level security clearance
A bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
You must have 2-5 years of experience designing complex mechanical systems with demonstrated transition to hardware
Prior experience working missile development programs
Multi-year experience in design and solid modeling (Creo preferred)
Experience implementing and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Experience with environmental analyze and testing, i.e., shock, vibration, temperature/altitude, environmental stress screening (ESS)
Capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Experience using Windchill for product data management
Are willing and able to travel occasionally to attend meetings or tests at other government and contractor sites.
Comfortable working in classified facilities
Excellent people skills to include communication and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Have a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
Have design and structural/thermal analysis experience with missiles and related subsystems
Prior missile airframe design experience, with emphasis on balancing system level size, weight, and power
Have familiarity with flight vehicle physics and dynamics
Proficiency in TDP release processes and maintenance using Windchill
Knowledge of manufacturing and manufacturing processes desired
Design verification test planning and fixture design or field-testing experience

The salary range for this role is:
$71,852 - $101,850
