Qnity Chambers Works is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Mechanic . This position is responsible for performing, with minimal supervision, a variety of maintenance assignments to keep a 24/7 chemical manufacturing process running in a safe and efficient manner. Candidate will provide troubleshooting, calibration, installation and repair skills on plant instrumentation and electrical needs for the area. A successful candidate is a highly self-motivated individual who can work both independently, and within teams, with minimal guidance.
This position operates as a Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM role . Overtime hours are offered as deemed necessary by Management and business demand, and may include extended shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, sometimes with minimal notice.
This is a union represented role located at the Qnity Chambers Works Plant in Deepwater, NJ.
Pay is $41.86 per hour base rate with an expected progression to full pay rate of $46.28 dependent on achieving qualification. This role is eligible for additional pay allowances per the site union contract including: call-in allowance, hold-over allowance, over-time rate, and holiday-time rate.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
E&I Mechanic role responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
o Safely maintain all plant instrumentation and electrical equipment, such as: PLC's, electrical control systems, instrumentation transmitters (flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH), automated valves, sensors, motor starters, electrical motors, AC/DC variable frequency drives, motor control centers, power supplies, distribution panels, lighting, Control Logix, etc.
o Install electrical raceways (cable tray, rigid conduit) in accordance with National Electric Code.
o Assist in the implementation and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and instruments / equipment as required.
o Read and interpret P&ID drawings, manuals, schematics, and electrical drawings.
o Support day to day operations with maintenance support on production instruments / equipment.
o Interact with Production Technicians to understand issues and concerns with production and address them appropriately.
o Troubleshoot, calibrate, dismantle, rebuild defective instruments / equipment and install new or repaired equipment or parts.
o Work with voltages up to 480V and under guidance of NFPA 70E.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES continued:
o Safely perform work outdoors during all @types of weather conditions.
o Complete Lock, Tag, Clear, Try (LTCT) procedures to ensure equipment is in a safe state to work on.
o Model appropriate behavior for: Environment, Health & Safety, Project Safety Management, Ethics and Core Values.
o Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
o Ability to take initiative, self-start work, set priorities, learn quickly and willingness to expand knowledge.
o Ability to work flexible schedules including an on-call schedule, evenings, and weekends as needed.
o Must have demonstrated human relations ability to show teamwork and resolving problems together; ability to develop effective working relationships with outside vendors, contractors, and customers, as well as internal personnel.
o Enter information in SAP to manage and complete Maintenance Work Orders.
o Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas.
o Training new employees on use of tools and equipment.
o Participate in writing Work Instructions for routine tasks.
o Use computer programs: SAP, MS Word, company E-Mail, online training platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
o Knowledge of basic electricity, PLC, and instrumentation functionality, electrical safety, and National Electric Code. Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings, use test equipment, and hand tools.
o Must pass drug screen, background check, and physical.
o High School diploma or G.E.D.
o 4 years of industrial maintenance experience.
o Follow outlined policies and work procedures.
o Troubleshooting skills; ability to think and act quickly and in a safe manner.
o Sit/stand/walk up to 8 or 12 hours per day, walk up and down stairs, kneel, crouch, crawl, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
o This position requires vision (natural or corrected) that meets the standards set by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, due to safety-related responsibilities.
o A high degree of work schedule flexibility.
Preferred
o Associate degree in Instrumentation or Engineering Technology.
o ISA certification.
o Chemical plant, refinery, or petrochemical experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Responsible for working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, and chemicals. Must adhere to strict safety and environmental guidelines including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when appropriate. For example: gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, coveralls, face shield, goggles, aprons, respirators, voltage rated PPE.
