Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Entry-Level Asphalt Hot Plant Operator to join our team. This position supports the daily operation of an asphalt hot mix plant and is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in asphalt production. No prior plant experience is required; training will be provided.

This role requires strict adherence to MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the operation and monitoring of asphalt hot plant equipment, including dryers, burners, conveyors, silos, and control systems.

Learn plant start-up, shut-down, and emergency procedures under supervision.

Monitor temperatures, material flow, and production output.

Assist in producing asphalt mixes according to specifications and quality standards.

Perform routine inspections, lubrication, housekeeping, and basic preventative maintenance.

Maintain a clean, organized, and MSHA-compliant work area.

Participate in required MSHA training, safety meetings, and annual refreshers.

Follow all company, MSHA, and environmental safety rules always.

Assist with the operation and monitoring of asphalt hot plant equipment, including dryers, burners, conveyors, silos, and control systems.

Learn and follow proper start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.

Monitor temperatures, material flow, and production output under supervision.

Assist with producing asphalt mixes according to mixed designs and quality standards.

Identify and promptly report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or abnormal conditions.

Maintain accurate production and safety logs as directed.

Maintain plant housekeeping to meet MSHA and company safety standards.

Assist with general plant maintenance, repairs, and cleanup tasks.

Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety meetings and training.

Track, maintain and order materials needed for asphalt production.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

Must comply with all applicable MSHA regulations.

Required to complete MSHA New Miner Training and Annual Refresher Training.

Required to wear Company issued PPE and follow lockout/tagout, fall protection, and traffic control procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Construction, asphalt, aggregate, or industrial experience is a plus but not required.

Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.

Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team.

Valid driver's license required.

Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.

Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and plant structures.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around heavy equipment for extended periods.

Schedule

Seasonal, weather-dependent work.

Early mornings, overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required during peak production.
