Job Description

The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate forecasting and alignment with cost plans by working closely with project delivery teams. This position requires categorizing project costs correctly and driving discussions with Project Managers to ensure precise forecasts by period, category, capital, and expense. Regular interaction with FP&A and Fixed Assets is a fundamental aspect of this collaborative role.

Responsibilities

Meet regularly with project delivery teams to ensure accurate forecasting and alignment with cost plans.

Categorize project costs correctly to maintain financial accuracy.

Drive conversations with Project Managers to ensure precise forecasts by period, category, capital, and expense.

Collaborate with FP&A and Fixed Assets to align financial strategies.

Lead and drive strategic initiatives such as automation, implementation, project costing, project budgets, project life cycle, and project cost analysis.

Essential Skills

Full accounting experience, including ability and understanding of General Ledger Reconciliations and Consolidated Financial Statements.

Proven experience handling project portfolios of at least $5-7 million in any variety, including IT, engineering, or construction.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pulling data from multiple sources and creating dashboards.

Experience in Power BI or other data analytics tools.

Experience with any project management tool.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

Experience in Clarity is preferred but not required.

Highly prefer candidates with Power BI experience.

Experience in an Agile environment.

Work Environment

This role offers 100% remote flexibility, provided that employees are within a 2-hour radius of a local Retail Business Services office. Although office attendance is optional, interaction with senior leadership and executives is frequent, necessitating professionalism at all times. As the financial business partner for large-sized projects, employees must be solution-oriented and contribute to driving financial results on all projects. The team is amidst several implementations and technology transformation projects, requiring employees to be proactive and not just transactional task-doers.

This is a Contract position based out of Salisbury, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
