Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Waco, Texas. This is a long-term contract position designed for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will oversee various accounting functions, provide strategic financial insights, and play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of project finances.

Responsibilities:

Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and month-end/year-end closing processes.

Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures aligned with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Review and analyze project financial statements to ensure all transactions are accurate and transparent.

Manage and reconcile Work-in-Progress schedules, including profitability analysis, revenue recognition, and job costing.

Prepare budgets and forecasts for projects, monitor variances, and provide actionable insights to management.

Collaborate with project managers and leadership teams to align financial objectives and communicate project status effectively.

Supervise and mentor accounting staff to support detail-oriented development and ensure continuous improvement.

Assist with audits, tax filings, and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Strengthen and enhance internal controls across all accounting processes to ensure operational efficiency. Requirements - Proven expertise in month-end close processes and general ledger management.

Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and compliance requirements.

Experience in account reconciliation and ensuring accuracy in financial records.

Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries for a variety of transactions.

Ability to analyze project finances and deliver insights on profitability and cost management.

Solid understanding of GAAP and its practical applications.

Excellent leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and managing accounting teams.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities with cross-functional teams.
