Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will determine if containers of hazardous waste received are safely and properly packaged per Department of Transportation regulations. You will assist the Hazardous Waste coordinator with inventory control, review of the Authorized Use List and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets. You will accept recyclable property after inspection, ensuring the documentation is in order and that containers are in proper condition and properly identified. You will carry out various assignments for operation of the oil pollution abatement program i.e. skimming equipment, potable pumps, pump truck (which has a gross vehicle weight of between 26,000 and 32,000 pounds), containment booms and motor boats. You will use equipment in loading and transporting of materials in containers or in bulk. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Determine if containers of hazardous waste are up to safety regulation and storage requirements with inspections, gather data for state and pollution prevention reports, and act as part of the spill response team. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
