Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team. This role supports cutting-edge projects across the automotive industry, as well as Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Energy (DOE) initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in mechanical process design and systems design, contributing to innovative solutions that advance technology and performance in mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and validate mechanical processes for R&D and production environments.

Support design, integration, and testing of mechanical systems for diverse applications.

Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and process specifications.

Analyzing features or work and applying sound engineering principles and practices

Developing technical reports and presentations for project management and clients

Designing:

High pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping systems

High Temperature systems including steam systems

Refrigeration, vacuum, and fuel systems

Specialty HVAC systems and components

Create engineering calculations and specifications and oversee the creation of engineering drawings.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to project requirements.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

4+ years of experience in mechanical process design or systems engineering.

Knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Ability to work independently and in team settings on complex R&D projects.

Experience with aerospace systems, defense-related engineering, or energy sector projects.

Familiarity with AFT Impulse/Fathom, AutoPIPE, simulation software, or Ceasar 2.

Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics.

Problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Work Environment

The work environment requires on-site presence, with half days on Fridays. The role features a Monday through Friday schedule with a 40-hour work week and little to no overtime. The team specializes in designing, constructing, and operating unique and complex research and development facilities, including wind tunnels, rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. Projects span the automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets.

This is a Contract position based out of Tullahoma, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $76.92/hr.
