Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus six years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Serve as the chief legal counsel for the Louisiana Department of Health, acting as the senior legal advisor and legal representative to the Secretary and executive leadership on all legal, regulatory, and policy matters affecting the Department.
Provide strategic legal guidance to LDH leadership, including the Deputy Secretary, Undersecretary, Assistant Secretaries, Medicaid Director, Chief of Staff, Executive Counsel, and Deputy Executive Counsel, to support informed decision-making and risk management.
Direct, manage, and supervise the Department's legal operations by overseeing a large legal team that includes deputy general counsels, attorneys, program managers, executive staff, and administrative support personnel.
Establish legal priorities, allocate resources, and ensure consistent, high-quality legal services across all LDH programs, offices, and initiatives.
Represent the Department in high-level legal matters, complex negotiations, and issues of significant legal or public impact, ensuring alignment with state and federal laws.
Report directly to the Deputy Executive Counsel and Executive Counsel, implementing their direction while coordinating legal strategy and operations to support LDH's mission and executive objectives.
