In order to best support our students, it is important that staff stay aware of issues and best practices related to student development, and sense of belonging, both locally and nationally.Job Summary:The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs Graduate Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the divisions mission to promote student well-being and success. This position provides key support for marketing and communication efforts that aim to reach audiences across the University of Utah campus community.The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Internal Marketing and Communications Manager to produce content for a variety of communication channels, with a primary focus on writing articles for the divisions newsletters, which are shared division-wide and campus-wide. These articles inform students, faculty, and staff about updates within Student Affairs, highlight newsworthy initiatives, and showcase the divisions impact on student success. This role will also assist in developing messaging for university leadership and collaborative campus partners.Additional content responsibilities may include supporting social media, website updates, videography, photography, and graphic design. The Graduate Assistant may also assist with event support, scheduling, meeting coordination, and other administrative tasks as needed.This position is ideal for a graduate student who is detail-oriented, passionate about writing and storytelling, and committed to student support, advocacy, and holistic success in higher education.Terms of Graduate Assistantship:Work 20 hours per week throughout the academic year with consistent fixed office hours, including occasional evening and weekendsAttend regular staff meetingsAdhere to all university and departmental policiesProfessionally represent Student Affairs and articulate its mission and visionMay be asked to adjust working hours to reflect necessary organizational needs. Some nights and weekends may be included.Stipend:If hired, the graduate assistant will receive a stipend of $12,000 for the spring semester.Graduate assistants enrolled in the Education, Leadership, and Policy (ELP) Program will also be eligible for Tuition Benefits.
