GE Appliances is seeking a Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) to play a pivotal role within our Finishes Center of Excellence (COE). In this highly visible position, you will lead complex, high-impact initiatives that shape the future of our Premium Finishes across global manufacturing operations.
You will own large-scale capital investment (CapEx) projects, advance finishing technologies, and drive continuous improvement across internal factories and external coating suppliers. Partnering closely with Factory Operations, Technology, Supplier Quality, Sourcing, and Advanced Manufacturing teams, you will influence strategy, standards, and execution at a global level.
This role blends technical depth, strategic leadership, and hands-on execution, offering the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on manufacturing excellence, quality, and cost performance.

How You'll Create Possibilities
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver major CapEx investments for internal finishing operations, including equipment upgrades, system optimization, new technology acquisition, and factory integration
Develop equipment specifications to ensure the right advanced coating technologies are procured and fully compatible with factory systems
Drive the Finishes COE Hoshin strategy , including global standards, architecture, appearance control, and Premium Finishes management
Own end-to-end advanced manufacturing engineering and project management for assigned internal and external coating operations throughout their lifecycle
Partner across a matrixed global organization (Technology, EHS, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Sourcing) to lead finishes improvement initiatives
Support and advance the global coatings strategy across Haier, GE Appliances, Mabe, and Fisher & Paykel
Identify, evaluate, and introduce new coating processes, tools, suppliers, and technologies to advance business capability
Champion quality systems including Execution Scorecards, Technical Audits, and control plans to drive measurable improvements in Premium Finishes
Resolve process control and Cost of Quality (COQ) issues through robust root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
Lead supplier transitions, material and process changes, and support design change initiatives
Contribute to and maintain governing documentation and standards related to finishing operations
Provide clear, concise updates to senior leadership on project status, risks, and outcomes
Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities across internal and external coating processes
Build organizational capability by contributing to knowledge sharing, cross-training, and process development within the Finishes COE
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering OR equivalent technical experience
7+ years Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and/or technical experience in manufacturing environment and a minimum of 5+ years of Cap Ex project leadership in coating/finishes
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
Experienced with problem solving tools and component qualification (i.e., 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, DOE, eCAR, Fishbone, Pareto, Six Sigma, First Piece, PPAP)
Experienced with coatings, physical evaluation methods and measurement techniques
Basic understanding of color and appearance control methods
Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated leadership to influence and drive change within a highly matrixed organization
Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans both globally and domestically
