PART TIME RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The Riviere Robot Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part Time Research Associate to work with Prof. Benjamin Riviere.

At the Riviere Robot Lab (RRL), we develop autonomous robotics research with theory, software, and experiments. Our methods are at the intersection of machine learning, discrete and continuous optimization, dynamical systems, and hardware systems. Our applications are focused in spacecraft robotics to enable new capabilities such as in-orbit servicing, assembly and manufacturing.

Expectations

Candidates will be responsible for conducting research on autonomy algorithms with machine learning and classical methods. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in robotics, computer science, and engineering as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience is necessary.

Salary range

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $30/hour depending on the candidate's experience and qualification.

Expected start date and period of employment

Expected start date is in February or March 2026. This position is expected to be for 4-5 months. Part time appointments would require a work schedule of approximately 27 hours per week.

Candidates should have at least a Masters in computer science, mechanical engineering, data science, and applied mathematics or a related field and at least 2 years of experience in computer science. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
